Series 1: Recharge

Recharge Teaser Photo

The first series we will focus on at Telos will be a 4-week series entitled Recharge. This series will focus on taking time to recharge our spiritual lives by a series of small devotionals in correlation with studying verses that provide encouragement and commands we are to adhere to as believers in Christ. Also, going hand in hand we will cover a brief look at our Sunday School ministry, ways to revitalize it, and ways to provide outreach as a group within our community.

Plan to attend starting September 18th, 2016 from 11:30 – 12:05.

Welcome! What is “Telos”?

Thank you for joining me here on this blog. This will be a corresponding way for us to communicate at Adult Sunday School. I would like to name our group. A group name can be beneficial by giving distinction between the groups who meet at church, by allowing us to be unified, and by updating the term “Adult Sunday School”. I have decided to name our group “Telos”.

The word Telos originates from the Greek language and means “to have an end goal in mind” or “to work towards an ultimate aim”. As I have been preparing to lead in this area of education at Milwood,  I have been researching the history of Sunday School. Sunday School serves many different purposes in the church, yet it’s an area of ministry and education that can be hard to revive, get people to attend, and one that seems “outdated” in today’s churches. You much more often hear more about “Small Groups” or things of that nature, but rarely hear about Sunday School anymore, especially in the adult age group.

My goal in this ministry is to work together toward an ultimate aim. That aim is to spread the joy and love of Jesus Christ, to minister to each other, and to learn how to do outreach in our community to involve more people in the building of His church. The real purpose of Sunday School is the teaching. Jesus himself was considered a teacher. We are to teach one another and others around us about Jesus and should be founded on the basis of The Great Commission as noted in Matthew Chapter 28.

Pray and think on this as we prepare our hearts to participate in Telos.

Matthew 28: 19 – 20 (NIV)

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
